London Calling – a “Once-in-a-Lifetime” School Experience

How was our journey to one of the greatest cities in the world?

Visiting London with 49 other students and 5 teachers is definitely something you don’t want to miss. You could describe it as a funny combination of teamwork, hilarious coincidences, and lots of unexpected impressions.

As soon as you enter London, you are overwhelmed by its culture and impressive architecture. Together, we visited the London Eye, one of the main attractions in London. At first, it looks like an ordinary Ferris wheel, but the real attraction is the breathtaking view from the top. You can admire the sparkling water of the River Thames, Big Ben, and the beautiful urban architecture of the city.

Another must-see attraction is, of course, Buckingham Palace. However, you have to be careful because it is usually very crowded. The best way to visit it is early in the day, so that you can enjoy it without too many people around.

During our stay in London, we also watched the musical SIX and later connected its story to our visit to Hampton Court Palace. The musical tells the story of the six wives of Henry VIII. This time, however, the wives tell their side of the story and talk about their dreams and lives. They no longer want to be known only as the wives of a famous king but as strong women with their own personalities and achievements.

Next, we visited the British Museum, where you can learn a lot about different cultures and their history. There are different sections for different countries, and each of them offers exciting discoveries. You can learn about daily life, kings and queens, religions, rituals, and much more. No matter what interests you, the British Museum has something for everyone.

In conclusion, our trip gave us the chance to discover a small part of a completely different world. There was hardly enough time to try all of London’s restaurants or explore every district of the city. Of course, we cannot say that we truly know this incredible city now, but we are glad that we took this opportunity and went on this adventure. We can now share our memories, learn from them, and keep them for a lifetime.
